Finding Your "Style"

In life, we each have our own personal style that makes each of us unique and special.

In business, we call that branding.  Instead of defining an individual, we want to take these ideas and apply them on a slightly larger scale.  This helps others, especially potential clients/customers, to be able to recognize our business easily.

Here are five ways you can do that.

How Do You Relax?

In our fast paced society, sometimes it can be rather difficult to relax.  I count myself as very lucky, as I have several tried and true relaxation methods.

My favorite ways to relax are listening to music and/or reading, sometimes both at the same time.  Or even better, a warm and frothy bubble bath!  However, this article suggests many other ways to relax as well.

Masterbatching Oils

I don't know about you, but I have a limited amount of free time on any given day.  So I'm always looking for little time savers to help me out in the long run.  One of the ways I've added this to my soap making routine is to master batch my oils.

There are several ways to master batch, but this is the way I do it.

Ingredient Spotlight: Candelilla Wax

Candelilla wax is extracted from a plant mainly found in Mexico, the Euphorbia Cerifera shrub.   It’s a wonderful vegan alternative to the more com...

Making Star of the Show Soap

Let's get right to the first of my new things to come - a photo tutorial!  Today, I'm bringing you the pictures from me making a brand new soap scent.  It's called My Main Squeeze from Wholesale Supplies Plus, but I'm calling the finished soap Star of the Show.  Can you guess why?

What's New for the New Year

2016 is finally here!  Time to look forward to a new year.  So what's in store for The Soaping Soprano this year?

Lots of fun stuff, of course!

Happy New Year!

I hope 2015 was a great year for all of you, and that 2016 will be even better!

A Look Back at the Past Year

I found this great idea while browsing some old blog posts I had bookmarked.  It seemed like a great idea to wrap up the year by examining what things happened.  So I modified a few questions, compiled a couple of lists together, brainstormed a bit, and came up with the following list.  I'm applying my answers specifically to my business life, but it works with personal life too.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!

Bramble Berry Surprise!

Last week, I opened up my mailbox and found a box inside, addressed to me.  I pulled it out and looked at it, wondering what it could be, because I hadn't ordered anything.  The return address was from Bellingham....I don't think I know anything in Bellingham.  Wait a minute...Bramble Berry is in Bellingham!  I didn't order anything from Bramble Berry though, so what could it be?

Only one thing to do, and that's open it and find out!

Ingredient Spotlight: Shea Butter

Shea Butter is an off-white solid butter that comes from the African shea tree.  It's a very soft butter at room temperature.  It is widely used as a moisturizer, and can be used by itself or in combination with other oils and butters.  It can become grainy if used by itself, and tempering it is a great way to prevent this problem.

Food Themed Soaps

The lovely people over at Food For Net have included my Burnt Sugar soap in their article about food themed soaps.  Run over to their website and check it out!
