Clean the World is a non-profit organization that has the mission of saving millions of lives around the world. They are leading what they call a Global Hygiene Revolution, in which they distribute recycled soap and hygiene products to families and children in less developed countries around in the world. Many of these countries have a high death rate due to pneumonia and cholera. These diseases could potentially be prevented by proper hygiene, but people in these areas often do not have access to these items.
Clean the World collects unused soaps and toiletries from participating hotels, and recycles them to be distributed. They have a cleaning process that removes all pathogens from the donated soaps, including listeria monocytogenes (Listeria), escherichia coli (E. coli), pseudomonas aerogenes, salmonella typhymurium (Salmonella), and staphylococcus aureus (Staph).
Since their inception in 2009, Clean the World has distributed over 22 million bars of soap in about 96 countries.
Otion, Bramble Berry's retail location, has organized a soap drive, with a goal of 350 pounds of soap collected to send to Clean the World. Learn how to donate your soap here, if you have bits and pieces lying around.
